Our Story

Adonai Covenant Church was not born out of abundance, but out of obedience. Long before there was a building, a pulpit, or even proper chairs to sit on, there was simply a small piece of land entrusted to the Vinzon family. Instead of keeping it for themselves, it was offered back to the Lord—set apart as a place where His people could gather and worship.

“Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.”

— Psalm 127:1

What was once ordinary ground slowly became holy ground—not because of walls or structures—but because God chose to meet His people there.

Our beginnings were simple and quiet. There were no impressive programs, no large crowds—only small feeding ministries, a few neighbors, open Bibles, and prayers lifted under the shade of a mango tree. Yet it was there, in those ordinary afternoons, that the Lord began doing extraordinary things. Hearts were softened. Lives were changed. Faith quietly took root.

The world might call it small. But the Lord reminds us:

“Do not despise the day of small beginnings.”

— Zechariah 4:10

Then the pandemic came, and like many churches, we were tested. Plans were interrupted. Resources were stretched thin. The building we hoped to finish had to wait. The funds saved for construction were redirected to provide food and daily needs for members. We chose people over walls, mercy over progress.

And still, the church did not stop. When doors closed, God opened new ones. Teaching continued online. Worship continued in whatever ways were possible. Even when only a few could gather, the Word was still preached, prayers were still lifted, and Christ was still present with His people.

Little by little, the Lord kept building—not only a structure of concrete and steel—but a people shaped by sacrifice, faith, and love for one another.

Even with limited means, the vision God gave us was never only for ourselves. From what little we have, the church has sought to support pastors serving in the mountains and distant islands, helping provide books, transportation, and training so that sound doctrine may continue and the gospel may be faithfully proclaimed. By God’s grace, the Lord has also allowed us to walk alongside sister churches—even in places like Puerto Princesa, Palawan—who faithfully prayed with us and for us as we prepared for this day. Across islands and seas, we remain one body in Christ.

Through the years, God also raised up leaders from among us—elders and deacons formed not by ambition, but by service. And we recognize that these shepherds are not merely our own provision, but God’s gift to His church:

“He gave the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.”

— Ephesians 4:11–12

Today, we give thanks not only for what God has done within our local congregation, but also for the wider family of Christ He has given around us. We are deeply grateful for the pastors and churches who stand with us—our brothers and fellow servants in the gospel.

And to dear Bro. Alvin Musngi and his wife Sis. Anne—though miles separate us, the gospel has drawn our hearts near.

Jireh Reformed Church

Pastor Kim Lapiz and his family, whose faithful witness and teaching greatly influenced the Reformation journey of our congregation.

Mustard Seed Reformed Church

Pastor Jek Pacheco and his family, whose teaching and encouragement shaped our vision for a biblically ordered church.

Pastor Tito Martinez & Family

Sister Marla and Aviatech Aviation School, for their consistent love, prayers, and support for our ministry.

We are equally thankful for every brother and sister who has shared in this work through financial assistance and sacrificial giving. Some may be far from us geographically, yet through the gospel we have become near—bound together by one Lord, one faith, and one love.

And of course, we thank every member here—those who prayed, served, gave, sacrificed, and stayed. This story is not the work of one person, but the testimony of a whole congregation upheld by God’s sustaining grace.

And now, after years of prayer, correction, perseverance, and quiet faithfulness, the Lord has brought us to this moment.

Today, Adonai Covenant Church stands, by God’s grace alone, as a constituted Reformed local congregation.

Not because we are strong. Not because we are many. But because God has been faithful.

“The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”

— Lamentations 3:22–23

This celebration is not an ending, but a beginning. The same Lord who planted this church will continue to grow it. The same Lord who provided yesterday will provide tomorrow. And the same Christ who has been our foundation will remain forever the Head of His church.

So we humbly ask, please continue to pray for us. Pray that we would remain faithful. Pray that we would grow in love and holiness. Pray that this church would always be a place where the gospel is clearly preached and Christ is truly worshiped.

“Therefore, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”

— 1 Corinthians 15:58
